It was fairly decent out, so took the kids for a hike in the sand dunes. The reservoir has dropped so much that there are huge sand dunes and all the docks are land locked. The kids always have fun digging around the docks finding “treasures” i.e. broken sunglasses, towels, water bottles, t-shirts, etc.
I tried to get some lunges in by stepping up on the docks, there were probably 18 docks that I stepped up on-good workout!

Since my husband went camping this weekend, I took the kids to the state park. It was perfect weather-wise, not one cloud in the sky and about 80 degrees. The first thing my kids did was climb their favorite tree, then my son fashioned a fishing pole out of a stick and string, didn’t catch anything though! Then we went swimming for about an hour, dried off and went for a hike. Played at the playground for a while. Then my 2 oldest kids played volleyball for nearly 45 minutes and had some pretty good rallies. Needless to say, we were exhausted when we got home after being there for over 4 hours.

I started with good intentions to run about 3-4 miles, but after mile 2 got a gut ache and had to walk. Headed to the gym for a lifting session now. Hopefully will get a good run on Friday AM…

Had planned to run about 3-4 miles, got my new running/water belt on and took off. Walked for about 5 minutes to warm-up and then started to run and discovered that you really have to crank the water belt tight so that it doesn’t move around. Stopped a few times to re-adjust the belt, but noticed that everytime I stopped, I felt better, so I continued walking and found it very enjoyable compared to running. Oh well, I still have time to train…..I’ll run another day….

Started out to run 4-5 miles, but after doing my warm-up saw 2 girlfriends in my neighborhood who were planning on walking about 4 miles. At first, I had planned to walk for a short time with them and take off on my run, but ended up walking the whole time. They are actually training for the same half marathon that I am, but plan to walk it. They had a pretty fast pace, so fast that I told them I thought it was easier to run than walk their pace! Anyway, was a good workout.

Took a short hike up to 2 mountain lakes. I can’t go as far or as steep as I’d like to with the kids, but for the most part they did well! I think my 4 year old can hike farther than my 9 year old!

Set out to run 5 miles, but couldn’t work through the pain in my achilles! Guess if I’m going to keep running, I need to see a podiatrist. I have a super high arch and the problem runs in my family. Was a beautiful day for a walk anyway!

Found a beautiful hiking trail right next to lake, it must have been an old logging road. Saw a deer and a lone elk in the meadow. Found a bunch of fox holes also, but never saw the fox. It was dusk on the way back and saw a magnificent sunset behind the mountain that relected off the lake.
